Opera "Lu'anzhou"

Hamichi with a warrior-clown face plays a role in "Lu'anzhou," an opera based on a story in Complete Biography of Yue Fei by Qian Cai of the Qing Dynasty. The biography center on the wars waged by Yue Fei (1193-1142) and his generals against the Jin (Jurchen) which had invaded the Song empire. It paints a glorious picture of a brave, loyal, and patriotic general whose tragic death at the hands of traitors has been mourned by people down through the centuries. Hamichi was a staff officer with the Jin army that attacked Lu'anzhou.
