Sandy Wujing with a blue monk face plays a part in the opera "River of Shifting Sand." Sandy is a water monster who lives in this river. When Sanzang and his two disciples, Monkey and Pigsy, arrive at the river, Monkey with the help of the Goddess of Mercy makes Sandy a third disciple of Sanzang. Sanzang gives him the religious name Wujing.
