China Population Demographics These population figures are somewhat old dating back to the 1980s. It is being shown to emphasize the disparity of the numbers of females and males. It the 1980s men exceeded women by over 32 million. The United States during the same period had 7 million more women than men. With five times the population of the USA China, by normal demographics, should have 35 million more women than men. This shows a statistical shortage of approximately 67 million women in China. Normally women outnumber men due to a longer life expectancy, men having generally more hazardous jobs and war attrition. It also emphasizes China future problems with a young population and thus a higher birth number for the future. Back to Chinese Population ChoicesBack to Home Page |
