86. The Dyehouse

The dyestuff used to dye silk thread and silk cloth was mainly the plant dye or mineral dye. Over 2,000 years ago, strict color spectrum was set to the dye technique in China, so as to distinguish the ranks between the high and the low, they were called "pure colors" and "secondary color." The pure colors were only for the officials' ceremonial robes then.
