Chongqing Municipality Scenes

4. Chongqing - Red Crag Village

The late Zhou Enlai who led the South Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee and the Office of the Eighth Route Army, lived and worked in Chongqing for eight years. In Autumn, 1945, the late Chairman Mao Zedong, in a revolutionary indomitable spirit, personally came here to negotiate with the KMT in an attempt to bring about a bright future for China. The places where Comrades Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai lived and worked have now become the "Red Crag Village Revolutionary Memorial Hall." The Revolutionary Martyrs' Tomb, at the foot of Mount Gelo is open to visitors and worth seeing. The site of the Sino-American Special Technical Cooperation Organization has been turned into an exhibition center.
