Chongqing Harbor

Chongqing Municipality Scenes

1. Chongqing Harbor

Chongqing is referred in China as one of the "Four Furnaces" of China." We were there in the Summer and the Winter. It is very hot in the summer. Temperatures above 100 are common. In 1984 we visited there to travel down the Yangzi River. While we were in town we saw a man on a bike carrying a 200-pound chunk of ice that was melting rapidly. We followed him and he quickly set up a stand and sold an iced cherry juice drink that we loved in that heat. This shows the type of boat we traveled on down the river. This is a Chinese boat for the Chinese. But then we paid only $18 for our fare on the river for 5 days.
