18. Xiamen Harbor

This is a view from our apartment looking to the east. We enjoy watching the busy harbor scene. Many ships come and go. Twice a week the ocean liners head off to Hong Kong and Guangzhou. A little to the left out of view you can see Matsu Island that is still held by the Taiwan Island. On occasion they shell us. Once in 1995 they fired 10 shells at us. A house is destroyed and some people killed. We are happy that the People's Republic of China did not retaliate.
