Chengdu, Sichuan 28. Paul and Bernice Noll Dressed for Cold The temperature gets down to freezing in Chengdu in the winter. We need to dress warmly when we go out. Heating is not allowed in homes in China below the Yellow River in 1984. Foreigners are allowed to use heating. The ban is because there is such a shortage of electricity. One of my good students, Frances, knitted this sweater for Paul. Paul asked her to make it especially long in the sleeves, neck and waist so he could cover more of his body. We paid for the yarn and she spent a long time making it. It was so appreciated and we still have it here at home. Frances was such a lovely and kind lady to do such a kind act. It is made of wool. ⇦ Back to Page 27 On to Page 29 ⇨Hi-Res Pic (111K) Return to Chengdu Page 4 |
