42. Chengdu Street Scene

A street scene in the city of Chengdu. Chengdu is the Capital of Sichuan Province. Sichuan was the most populous Province in China in 1984. Later the City of Chongqing (old spelling Chunking) was made into a Municipality and separated from Sichuan. So Henan Province took over the distinction much to their delight and Sichuan's dismay. The sidewalk is composed of individual paving blocks. This allows the workers to make changes easily without tearing up concrete.
