Banpo Neolithic Village Xi'an - 2008 60. Banpo Village housing Banpo village had some forty houses, arranged in two parallel rows with a narrow plaza up the middle. Each house was about three to five meters wide on each side, and the front doors faced south. The houses came in two types, either round, or square, The square houses looked like pyramids of thatched straw, coming to a point in the middle.
