Dark Power Blue Color 262 - #003399

The original, darker powder blue color referred to smalt, a crushed-glass product used in laundering and dyeing applications and of a deep, dark blue hue. The cobalt blue colored glass was itself made from zaffre. The first recorded use of powder blue (meaning the dark blue color) as a color name in English was in 1707.

Cobalt glass is a deep blue colored glass prepared by adding cobalt salts of alumina to the molten glass. It is appreciated for its attractive color. It is also used as an optical filter in flame tests to filter out the yellow flame caused by the contamination of sodium, and expand the ability to see violet and blue hues. Cobalt glass such as Bristol blue glass is popular with collectors, and is used in the distinctive blue bottles of Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry
