Ben Dunlap of 581st Signal Radio Relay Company in Korea
Served July 1961 to December 1962 at Pyongtaek and Tacoma Site #10
Paul, I have really enjoyed your web site. I served four tours in Korea. My
first was from July 59 to July 1960. On that tour I was with "D" Company EUSA
Signal Long Lines Bn. I was assigned to a radio terminal site attached to the
83rd Ordinance Bn. at An Yang Ni.
My second trip was with the 581st Signal Radio Relay Pyong Taek. I was assigned
to Tacoma # 10 outside of Kunsan Air Base from July 1961 through December
1962.
My third trip was with the 502nd MI Bn stationed in Pool Gong Dong just north
of Seoul. I was there from March 1965 to April 1968.
My fourth trip was with the 308th Trans Co at Pyong Taek. I was there from
September 1970 and returned to the real world October 1971.
I really didn't get on the wrong side of anyone. I volunteered for each trip I
took over. After my last return in 1971 I managed to stay in the US until
November 2002. I made a trip back then because my daughter was adopting a son
from South Korea. My last real assignment to Korea was after I completed Huey
Maint school at Ft Rucker, AL.
I left Military Service on the 1st of February 1977. I retied after 20 years
and 13 days. At the time I was stationed with the JFK Center at Ft Bragg, NC.
I hope this information will help out someone or put me in touch with someone I
know.
