581st Radio Relay Company in Japan (1950)
17. Main Street Yokohama, Japan - 1950 Remember that Japan had surrendered less than 5 years before and had been severely bombed so the Japanese cities were somewhat less than they are today. There were many shops selling many items. It was an exciting place for a young man like me. I made some friends with some shop owners and had some good times talking and visiting with them. I loved the food and enjoyed the shows. Many events were sponsored by the Eight Army Headquarters (General MacArthur Commanding) and I took advantage of many of them. My good friend Elliot Hajame Fukemoto (a Nisei GI) often went together with me. He and I shared the photos in this series with each other. Any photos I took, he got a copy and vice versa. It was a good arrangement that would last for a long time. He was on my team and a good man. Hi-Res Pic (91K) ⇦ Back to Page 16 Return to Page 3 On to Page 18 ⇨ |
