Joseph Sioui and his Lovely Wife Karen - 2010
This photo was taken on a cruise to the Bahamas last Easter, we had a great
time with our Daughter and family. We enjoyed it so much that we going again
this year in April again with the family. We hope to do something special next
year as it will be our 50th. We went to Hawaii for our 25th, maybe do the
same next year, we will have to see what's in the future. My wife's name is
Karen, we met when she was in college and I was in the fire department in
Albany New
York.
I was discharged from Fort Dix, New Jersey on July 24, 1958. I did have
to stay in the reserves for four years and had to attend annual training for
two years for a period of one or two weeks each year. I never had any regrets
about serving this country. My life after the army consisted mainly of being a
Firefighter with the Albany New York Fire Dept. I served that city for
twenty-five years and a very exciting career from my first ride on the back
step of a fire truck going to my first fire to the numerous close calls
fighting fires. I also became an EMT (emergency medical technician) and
instructor, and then moved on to Paramedic. My career spanned from Aug. 11,
1958 to Nov. 23, 1983 only a couple of weeks after leaving the army. I rose
from firefighter to Acting Battalion Chief. Later I became a fire investigator
in
another county then elected Fire Commissioner.
