16 - Myself and Edwards Joseph E. Sioui - 1957 Korea

16. Myself and Edwards This was taken outside my power shop, L to R is Myself, Edwards and one of my KATUSA helpers in my shop, I had two KATUSAs (ROK) soldiers and one civilian plus one GI whose name was Willie Newman of Georgia. Willie was in his own space and we called him Will (He will never be a soldier). He was a beer drinking, cussing, tobacco chewing Georgia boy. I could not depend on him, my best employee was the civilian. He would be there when I needed him, if I wasn't there to turn on the security lights he would walk over and take care of it for me.

One of my KATUSAs stole a car battery and tools and sold them in Seoul, I let their ROK Army Sgt. take care of it, he took him into the shower room and put a beating on him with a 2X4. I didn't think his punishment should have been that severe for a battery.
