11. We Capture a Chinese Horse -- 1951 Somehow we end up with a Captured Chinese Horse One day a Chinese horse appears. I was never sure how we ended up with it but I was not about to question how it happened. We had several tons of equipment to get to the top of the hill and I have never been one who wishes to cheat a horse out of a job. The horse came with a pack but with no saddle. I have never had horses but that didn't stop me or faze me. I loaded up the horse and off we started to the top of the hill. About 3/4 of the way there the horse slipped and rolled over and over ending up on his back. He couldn't get up with the load so I had to cut the pack loose and off he went back to the bottom of the hill. Well that didn't work so when I got back down the hill I decided to ride him. No saddle, but that didn't stop me. He didn't seem to know any English but I had a lot of fun riding him. After a couple of hours I got off and I was so sore from riding that beast I could hardly walk. We gave him away to some Korean farmers who were happy to get him. |
