1. Lieutenant General Du Ping Background Born in Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province in 1908, General Du Ping joined the CCP and the Chinese Red Army in 1930. During the Chinese Civil War, he served as the director if the organization departments of the Northeastern Field Army. At the Proclamation of the Peoples' Republic of China After the founding of the Peoples' Republic of China, he became the director of the political departments in the Thirteenth Army Group, Northeast Military Region. Shenyang Regional Command, and Nanjing Regional Command. He also became the Vice-Political Commissar of the Shenyang Regional Command. Activities in Korean War General Du Ping was the director of the political departments in the CPVF General Headquarters and also the Western Coast Headquarters and the Party Committee's Chairman of the Chinese Delegation to the Korean Armistice Negotiations during the Korean War. As one of the top CPVF Officers, he spent three and a half years in Korea. In 1955 he was given the rank of Lieutenant General. Political mobilization and indoctrination are an important part of Chinese Military tradition. Du addresses such issues as new challenges to the CPVF's political control, new tactics employed, and new lessons learned in the Korean War.
