In contact with 7th Marine Regiment west of Hagaru 22 Nov. About 2 December moved south to Majon-dong area. At Yudam-ni four battalions of the 89th Division were to hold the road against a Marine attack from the west. By December 2nd, the 5th and 7th Marines had broken through at Toktong pass and would reach Hagaru the following day. The 89th Division had taken serious losses and for all practical purposes, had been reduced to ineffectiveness and were out of action.
