Communist Forces in Korea
10. Knocked Out North Korean Tank Uncle Stalin provided the North Korean Army with some T34 tanks. Actually he sold them at a very dear price. Stalin promised much more than he delivered after he got the war started. Mao was furious at the lack of support the Russians gave. Stalin wanted to exhaust both the Chinese and the Americans. Although most Americans never understood it, the Chinese and Russians have never trusted each other for many years. When Mao Zedong first went to Russia to see Stalin, Stalin kept him waiting for many days before he would see him. A little bit of one-upmanship. The Russians and Chinese have fought many border skirmishes unknown to the USA. The NKPA and the PLA eventually determined that tanks were not worth the trouble and benefit of their usefulness. ⇦ Back to Page 9 On to Page 11 ⇨Return to Communist Forces Page 2 |
