Tree Swallow Feeding Chick

We constructed this Chickadee nest with 3/4 inch boards. But apparently the birds didn't read the book on nest sizes. A pair of Violet-green Swallows decided this nest fit their needs quite well. Here one of the pair feeds the young who waits with their head outside for food. Both of the pair feed the young. About 6 pairs of swallow spend most of each day flying back and forth eating bugs. We thank them for their work by providing nests for them. All six of the pairs have nested in the bird houses. Picture taken with our Canon EOS 350 camera using our 70-300mm lens. You need to clean out the nests each year after the chick season.
