Location in Oregon
Ferruginous Hawk Buteo regalis - Feeds entirely on rodents. The head is usually light in contrast to the darker rusty back. There are two color phases; the dark one and the black tipped. Does not hover. Call is a thin whistle usually slurred downward. This bird sat in one of our fir trees for a while, and then glided away to look for rodents. |
