Golden Books - A Guide to Field Identification - Birds of North America | ||
We think that this book ranks very well for amateur birders. On the left you see part of page 228 giving the descriptions and range map of the bird. On the lower part on the left we show the individual bird. The left side on page 229 has the descriptions and range map and the right side page 229 has the illustration of the bird. The illustration may show the plumage of the male, female, juvenile, first year, and second year if applicable. The description will indicate the likelihood of that bird being there at all, ranging from abundant, common, uncommon, rare, vagrant and straggler. We will detail these categories in another page.
