Birds Likely to be Observed in Oregon
Location in Oregon
Red Crossbill Loxia curvirostra - Unpredictable but common at times in pine woods. The brick-red plumage of the adult male is distinctive; immature is more orange-red. All plumages lack wing-bars on their blackish wings. They cling to pine cones from which they noisily extract seeds with their peculiar bills. Call kip-kip-kip is frequently given in flight. |
