Chukar Alectoris chukar - Locally common, this large European partridge prefers open, rocky, barren lands. Sexes are similar. Note cream-colored face with prominent black border. In flight (strong and direct), the reddish legs are visible. Eats grass-shoots, seeds, grain, and insects. The male calls chuk-ar.
