Ring-necked Duck Aythya collaris - Common in woodland ponds. In winter more confined to fresh water than other bay ducks. The vertical white stripe on the side and solid black back are best filed marks of the male. Female can be told by its distinct narrow white-eye ring, ring bill, and broad gray wing stripe. |
