Prairie Falcon Falco mexicanus - A light brown falcon of the plains, sometimes found in wooded areas. Black axillars (base of underwings) are diagnostic. Plumage is much paler than Peregrine Falcon's, head markings much less distinct. Flight is strong, rapid, and usually low. Call, a series of short loud notes. |
