California Gull Larus californicus - Common along the Pacific Coast in winter and inland in the breeding season, nesting in large colonies on the prairies. Adults have reddish eyelids in summer, as well as very yellow bill with red and black spots near tip of the lower mandible; the eyes are dark and the mantle is darker. Common call is a descending kiarr, repeated. |
