Ruby-crowned Kinglet Regulus calendula - Common. Told from Golden-crowned by eye ring, and from vireos or fall warblers by its smaller size, short tail, and kinglet habit of flicking its wings. Ruby crown of male may be concealed. Often hovers very briefly; prefers conifers, Gives a low-pitched, short, 2-note scalding call.
