Red Knot Calidrus canutus A medium-sized, short-necked, stocky, locally common bird along sandy shores, rocks, and mudflats. The short bill and lack of a white streak up the back distinguish it from dowitchers. In flight, note the light rump and tail. Call is a soft whistled chittup. |
