Birds Likely to be Observed in Oregon
Location in Oregon
Virginia Rail Rallus limicola - A common but elusive rail of fresh and brackish marshes. Like other rails, it runs silently through the grass when pursued, seldom resorting to its weak, fluttering flight. When in the air on short flights its long legs dangle limply. It is best identified by its metallic 2-syllable call, kid-ick, kid-ick, or ticket-ticket, or a descending Mallard-like series of quacks. |
