Tachycineta thalassina - Common in mountains and locally in towns. Best told by large white flank patches, which nearly meet over the tail. Adult is confused with the Tree Swallow or White throated Swift. Violet-green Swallow flaps more rapidly than the Tree, glides less, has translucent wings and a shorter tail. Young are brown and have less conspicuous eye patch. Call is a rapid twitter.
