Yellow-rumped Warbler Dendroica coronata -- - Abundant coastwise. Nests in spruce-fir forests in the North and in coniferous forests in the western mountains. The bright yellow rump and the yellow or dull orange side patches are diagnostic. Eats bayberries and poison ivy in cold weather when flying insects are not available. Song is a soft warble, 7-11/minute; call, a low-pitched chuck. |
