Gentoo Penguins

Soaring Seabirds in Bird Flight

Although all birds have feathers and all birds have wings, all birds do not fly. Flightless birds, like penguins and ostriches, use their wings to move in a different way then flying birds. Penguins are adept at using their wings to "fly" under water at high speeds. An ostrich uses its wings to increase its speed when running with the wind by lifting its wings as if they were sails.

Having traded the sky for the ocean, these Gentoo Penguins prefer to fly through the water with wings that have been modified into paddles.
