Canning Applesauce -- 22 Steps Crank the Food Mill - 10 Here Bernice begins to crank the fool mill handle. This forces the sauce through the grid on the bottom into the pan below. This mill works quite well and does a good job. If you had too many skins still in the sauce you might have to remove the skins from the food mill from time to time.
