Canning Apples Recipe
Wash, core and peel apples.
Apples may be sliced or quartered.
If sliced use 1/4 inch slices.
Put into lightly salted water to prevent darkening.
Use medium or light syrup.
Boil apples in syrup for 5 minutes.
Pack into hot jars leaving 1/2 headspace.
Fill jars with hot syrup leaving 1/2 headspace.
Remove air bubbles.
Adjust two-piece lids.
Load into a water bath or steam canner.
Process pints and quarts 20 minutes.
Any eating apple can be used.
Best to use a good cooking apple.
