Tools We Use to Can Pears

This pan we use to for Paul to peel the pears. After peeling he puts them into a bowl of water with salt in it. The salt keeps the pears from discoloring. Bernice then takes the pears, cuts them in half with a paring knife. After that she uses the pear tool to remove the core. The wider part takes out the center of the core and the narrow part takes the narrow part of the core. She got this pear tool when she worked at a canning plant many years ago.
