Sorting the Blackberries

Here Bernice sorts the blackberries. She removes any stems, leaves and trash. She also removes any berry with red berries. Sometimes a berry has a spot of red berry and is quite sour. She will also remove any with mold or is overripe. Note that we pick our berries into berry baskets. Those are the baskets used in a flat of berries. It improves things not to have the berries piled too high so they get crushed. After cleaning she will wash out the baskets and set them to dry for the next picking.
