What are Cobblers and Buckles?
Cobbler

Cobblers Cobblers add a biscuit topping to the fresh fruit. The biscuits are usually dropped onto the fruit in small rounds, giving it the appearance of a cobbled road and hence the name. Cobblers can also be made with cake batter or cookie dough instead of biscuit and are equally tasty.

Crisp

Crisps Crisps are baked with the fruit mixture on the bottom with a crumb topping. The crumb topping can be made with flour, nuts, bread crumbs, cookie or graham cracker crumbs, or even breakfast cereal.

Buckles

Buckles Buckles are baked and are usually made in one or two ways. The first way is that bottom layer is cake-like with the berries mixed in. Then the top layer is crumb-like. The second way is where the cake layer is on the bottom of the pan, the berries are the next layer and the top is the crumble mixture. Blueberry Buckle is the most prevalent Buckle recipe found. We use and prefer the first way.
