Measure the Soft Shortening

We measure out the soft shortening. The first cookies Paul made was when he was about 7. He remembers his Mom showing him how to measure out shortening. This recipe calls for 2 cups of the shortening. So you put 2 cups of water in a 4 cup measuring dish. Then add shortening to bring up the water level to 4 cups. Make sure to push the shortening under the water first. Then pour off the water and there you have it.
