18. Bernice Noll in Third Grade Class.

We still had to ride our bikes all the way to Lincoln School. During this time "Polio" was raging throughout our community. The most popular boy in school died suddenly. It greatly affected all of us. One of my friends was stricken and my mother took turns massaging her legs to keep her muscles intact, the Sister Kenny method, and it worked. The teacher was Miss Benson. She was also my teacher in the fourth grade and we all loved her.
