Bernice Chase Noll Growing Up 91. Bernice lands in Jail in Salem, Oregon. At the Oregon State Fair in 1946, Bernice has her picture taken in the jail. Pictured left to right is Marilyn Bucklin, Bernice Chase, Joy Cyr, and sister Gwen Chase. The family always went to the Oregon State Fair to show sheep, cattle and pigs. They won many prizes. We had to stay at the fair to take care of the animals. Dad put up a tent in the campground on the fair and we slept there the entire week. It was a lot of fun for the girls but a lot of work for the men. Both my Dad and Rodney won the "Cattleman of the Year" for the State of Oregon. One year my Dad won the prize for Championship Hog and then it died of the heat on the way home. Paul got the job of taking the carcass to the rendering plant. ⇦ Back to Page 90 On to Page 92 ⇨Hi-Res Pic (125K) Return to Bernice Growing Up - Page 11 |
