20. Alameda County Fair, 4H Sheep Judging

At the Alameda County Fair 4H takes on an importance for all the kids involved in 4H. All projects get judged especially the animals. The system used for sheep, allows as long as the quality stands up, that all 4H sheep can get blue ribbons. As the quality goes down lower red and yellow ribbons will be awarded. The quality then will be evaluated by examining the butchered carcass for quality. This means that the quality of the high value cuts will be critical and also the amount of fat considered. A good number of 4H lambs get judged.
