22. We Fix the Chicken House

Chet went into the chicken business after Dad bought 25 leghorn pullets. We then had to upgrade the chicken house. When we first bought the house the previous owner wanted to keep the chicken house and would remove it later. Dad signed an agreement but stated if it had not been removed in 60 days we would then have the ownership. It would have been next to impossible to move it. In the beginning it rested on some blocks of wood in tilted in a 15 degree angle. Jacking it up we put cement foundation under it and leveled it. Adding nest and a roost completed the plan along with a ramp and a small door. We then added a door and placed wire on the windows. Dad sold Chet's eggs at the phone company where he worked.
