39. California's Big Freeze

In the middle 1960s California had a major freeze. Tens of thousands of trees froze as the temperatures dropped down into the low teens. Caught unawares we had a major water pipe freeze in our barn. Here Landon surveys the ice formed by the burst pipes before it froze and the water flow stopped. Here you see the back underside of our barn where we store fence posts. Landon wears his Dad's jacket to fight the cold.
