Myra Lee Crawford Life 18. 1940 Chevrolet Invoice - $994.56 Mom saved this invoice for her scrapbook. She traded in our old 1930 Nash Sedan for which she got $100. Typically Mom she paid cash. Money she earned typing papers for doctoral students from USC. We had driven the old Nash from Los Angeles to San Francisco for the World's Fair at Treasure Island. The trip took two days. They had warned her not to exceed 35 MPH so the car would survive the trip. We had a wonderful time. Note the sales tax in those days was 3%. A little math shows that they charged her 1 cent too much, but I doubt she cared she was so proud and happy. Also they got her address wrong, we lived in Arlington. ⇦ Back to Page 17 On to Page 19 ⇨Hi-Res Pic (94K) Return to My Mom's Life - Page 3 |
