Flowers Growing at Our Home

Pimpernel

Anagallis arvenis This native of Eurasia is a low spreading herb with egg-shaped, opposite leaves. The flowers grow in the leaf axils on long, thread-like curved pedicels. The salmon to orange petals are fused to form a tube with five spreading lobes. The flowers are a bout 1/3 inch across. The weed occurs in lawns and waste areas, mostly west of the Cascades. Ours can be found in our woodlands and in the gravel driveway.
