Oregon Ash

Trees Growing at Our Pleasant Hill Oregon Home

Oregon Ash

Fraxinus latifolia Native to western North America, where a valuable timber is produced. Height to 75 feet. Male and female flowers open in April on separate trees. Fruit are about 1-2 inches long in dense clusters. Bark is dark grey, or tinged red with broad scaly ridges. This very fast growing tree sits next to our hot tub. We keep the top trimmed to allow a view out from our upstairs bedroom and balcony. Our Oregon Crab can be seen to the left. Unfortunately we had to cut it down as it got far too big for its present location.
