Chet Leland Noll's Eighth Birthday

Chet was always a happy bright young boy and a joy to be around. About this time we began a thing the whole family would do at night. The whole family would get into Mom and Dad's bed and the boys would put on an illustrated show for the rest of the family. Now it was all make believe. The room was very dark but Chet would have to describe the make believe picture to everyone and come up with a story about it. I think that both boys got a lot of good practice of presenting things before audiences. Sometimes it would be the lesson that Chet from his class that day and what he had learned. Dad would often be the bad student who would misbehave. Chet would correct him and have to play the part of the teacher.
