Chet Noll's Fortepiano

Reproduction of a Viennese Fortepiano by Andreas Stein, 1784

Built by Chet Noll 1980, this instrument is a piano 86 inches long with a compass of 5 octaves from FF to f'''. Case is decorated in fine Cherry veneer with English Oak panels and Satinwood banding. The keys, as was the style of the period, are reversed from a modern piano and the naturals are of ebony and the sharps topped in bone. This is an authentic reproduction of an instrument used by A. Mozart and is ideal for playing the works of Mozart and Haydn and other Classical composers. It is in excellent playing condition, with added escapement adjustment screws for ease of regulation. A moderator stop is built in for softer, more delicate passages. This instrument stays in tune well and the case is in excellent condition. Performances have been given on this instrument throughout the West coast. Recordings are available on request. Current asking price: $15,000 or best offer.
