Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, Oregon Coast 11. View From Lookout Trail Cape Perpetua (pronounced per-PET-choo-uh), the highest point on the Oregon coast at 803 feet, provides an unsurpassed panoramic ocean view. The English explorer, Captain James Cook, was credited with naming the promontory in 1787. We took this picture from the trail to the lookout. It shows the coast to the south.
